Letter from the Chair – 08/26/2021

Hello Fellow GCDems!

Wow, never a dull moment, is there? So much going on around the world and the virus is still raging.

We had a great meeting Tuesday, lots of planning and organizing! We now have Subcommittees with members and a direction forward! Our permanent subcommittees of Communications/Outreach, Fund and Raising and Ad Hoc Subcommittees of Finding Candidates, Platform Update and Candidate Training. If you have some ideas for any of the committees, be sure to let us know!

FYI: below is the current Platform that we are reviewing for possible updates/changes. Suggestions for additions/deletions is welcome:
– Provide Quality Governance Countywide
– Manage County Money Responsibly
– Encourage All Grant Countians to Vote
– Promote Business and Tourism
– Champion Education for All
– Address the Health Crisis in Grant County
– Support the Right of Workers to Organize

Also, anyone interested in assisting with the rebuilding of our Young Democrats, contact Drew Lawrence or e-mail us. Too, we are rebuilding our Democratic Woman’s Club; contact Donna Frueh or e-mail us for more information.

The Kentucky Democratic Party has said they will not be attending any in-person activities for the foreseeable future. Meetings and training will be done via Zoom. As for us here in Grant County, we will be continuing to have our hybrid meetings. We will have limited in-person outside the Library and on-line zoom. At our next meeting, we will also be having a training on how to use zoom so folks can feel comfortable attending via phone, iPad, computer, etc.

Sadly, Grant County has lost 25 people to the virus since the beginning and have over 250 active cases. We are remaining in the Red Zone so please, everyone be safe: maskup, socially distance and make sure to stay out of large, close-packed big crowds.

🙂 Debby
