Letter from the Chair – 11/20/2021

Notes from the Chair,

The “year between” is almost over! Starting November 3, filings to be on the 2022 ballot began. This will be a big year as it is starting the cycle over. 2022 has mainly local races, though some state and federal positions being filled every two years will be filled. 2023 will be mostly all of our state positions such as governor, etc. and then 2024 is the federal positions, especially President.

Following is the 2022 races and schedule:

· County Judge/Executive

· County Sheriff

· County Jailer

· County Clerk

· County Circuit Clerk

· County Property Valuation Administrator (PVA)

· Magistrate District 1 (Southern, Corinth/Williamstown)

· Magistrate District 2 (Central, Dry Ridge)

· Magistrate District 3 (Northern, Crittenden)

· State Representative District 61

· Federal Representative District 4

· Deadline for Partisan Candidates: January 7, 2022

· Deadline for Non-Partisan Candidates: June 7, 2022

· Primary Election: May 17, 2022 General Election: November 8, 2022

NONE of these partisan positions are filled with Democrats! NONE. The County and Circuit Clerks both have switched to the Republican Party within the last few months.

We need new candidates for these positions. While we cannot show preferential treatment to any Democratic Candidate during the Primary; we will be putting up the names of those who have filed and we will be offering ALL of our candidates our support and information. We need solid Democrats in elected positions in this County.

We have a booklet that outlines how to run a successful campaign plus we have folks available to help with answers to questions and sticky points we need to overcome.

If you want to make a difference and run, or if you know someone who would be a great candidate; be sure to contact let us know. We will do everything in our power to power to prep and assist candidates.

Remember, #StopTheRhetoric. Time for Democrats to #MaskUp, VaxUp, and #StepUp!

Everyone have a great weekend and a wishing you a very Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving from your Grant County Democrats!
